Nine Fine Irishmen announces menu concept
"Are you starving or thirsty” asks the hostess as you walk through the door. So begins the Nine Fine Irishmen emersion. From the friendly bartender behind the imported wooden bar to the unique food and drinks available, patrons at the new pub and restaurant in the New York-New York Hotel & Casino are in for an authentic Irish experience. Opening in July 2003, Nine Fine Irishmen not only will capture the camaraderie and spirit of an Irish pub, but also will give visitors the chance to sample the diverse regional specialties that Ireland has to offer.
Nine of Ireland’s most esteemed chefs were selected to provide traditional regional dishes. Each has contributed a signature dish, delivering natural Irish foods and flavors. Nine Fine Irishmen not only has imported their recipes, but also the ingredients needed to give the food an authentic taste. Under the direction of Executive Chef Kevin Dundon, the menu will reflect everything from pub favorites to the more sophisticated cuisine of the country’s various regions.
“We want to smash up the preconceptions Americans have about Irish food. At Nine Fine Irishmen, we will have a menu that is much more diverse than the few well-known specialties Americans recognize,” said Chef Dundon. “Instead of using a lot of sauces and marinades, we focus on buying the highest quality meats and authentic natural ingredients and serving them with a twist.”
The generous menu offers everything from chowders to rib eye steak served on a Dalky mustard mash. Featured dinner entrees include Oyster Pucks!, Atlantic oysters served in a shot glass sandwiched between salsa and Poitin and Chef Dundon’s signature dish, Grilled Irish Goats Cheese Salad topped with balsamic vinaigrette. Desserts include caramelized Brown Bread Ice-cream and Whiskey Pudding, a rich warm fruitcake topped with whiskey-flavored butterscotch sauce, or for low-calorie dining, leave out the pudding.
Run by the Irish Pub Company to ensure absolute authenticity and inspired by a group of nine extraordinary Irishmen in the 1800s who led lives of great adventure and achievement, Nine Fine Irishmen celebrates their passion for Ireland, joy for life, and sense of adventure. Overlooking the Las Vegas Strip, the interior of the 9,000 square-foot pub will seat 370 and will replicate the styles of pubs found across Ireland with its Victorian bars, cottage areas and shop-style snugs.
Designed by the Irish Pub Company and built by Ireland’s craftsmen with Irish materials, Nine Fine Irishmen will be a slice of Ireland transported to the Las Vegas Strip. An exceptional variety of Irish stouts, lagers, and creamy ales such as Guinness and Murphy’s Red will be available and premium lrish spirits also will be offered. Music and entertainment play an essential part of the Nine Fine Irishmen experience and late night activities will include a unique blend of modern dance club music mixed by Ireland’s best Djs creating a relaxing environment.
