Retail & Restaurant Growth Capital, L.P. provides financing for Texas Land & Cattle Steak House

Retail & Restaurant Growth Capital, L.P., a Federal Licensee under the Small Business Investment Act of 1958, announced today that it has made a $1.4 million commitment to Dallas-based TX C.C., Inc., a privately held casual dining restaurant company which owns and operates seven Texas Land & Cattle Steak House's in Dallas, Austin and San Antonio. Each Texas Land & Cattle Steak House features a Texas ranch setting with a saloon style bar and serves mesquite grilled USDA choice steaks, seafood and game. The concept's signature items, Pepper-smoked sirloin and Texas Tastin' Steaks, have distinguished Texas Land & Cattle from other mid-scale dining steak houses.

The Company was founded in 1993 by David Franklin and Aron Fogiel. Franklin was the founder of On The Border Cafes, now a division of Brinker International. David Oden, formerly of Silver Diner, Inc. and Fort Worth based Pancho's Mexican Buffet, Inc., recently joined the Company in July of this year as CFO. Terry Brewer is an equity shareholder and serves on the Company's Board of Director's. Brewer is the co-founder of Lone Star steak house, now a 250 unit national chain, valued in excess of $1 billion.

RRGC's investment, along with additional equity and senior financing will be used to open approximately 4 new stores. The company has signed leases to open stores in Arlington, adjacent to the Ballpark (November 1997) and a second store in Austin (early 1998). The Company plans to open its tenth location in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the Spring of 1998.

RRGC General Partner Mark Masinter believes, "There are several compelling reasons to support this investment. The Company has outstanding unit level economics, an experienced management team that is superbly positioned to grow the company in an accelerated fashion, and a concept that has proven to be the mid-scale dining steak segment leader in Texas. We are confident that this success will be duplicated as it expands beyond the borders of Texas."

RRGC provides debt capital and strategic counsel to emerging retail and restaurant business that have exhibited a potential for accelerated growth and expansion. Dallas-based RRGC is the first firm of its kind to specialize in providing debt securities to the retail and food-service industries, both of which have traditionally had limited access to debt and equity markets.

RRGC's portfolio companies, include The Colorado Pen Company, Quizno's Classic Subs and Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salons. Additionally, RRGC recently invested in FoodStar Restaurant Group, Inc. a privately held upscale restaurant company operating two prominent Dallas-based restaurant concepts, Mediterraneo and Toscana.
