Summer grilling: The side show
Whatever your main attraction is at the grill, a few classic side dishes provide a great supporting cast. Georgia is the number one producer of pecans in the U.S., and here are a few suggestions from the Georgia Pecan Commission:
Cole Slaw - Toss chopped cabbage and grated carrots with light sour cream and mayonnaise, a little lemon juice and sugar, plus a scoop full of toasted Georgia pecan halves.
Cornbread - Make savory corn muffins more hearty with additions such as chopped, seeded jalapeno peppers, cheese and chopped Georgia pecans.
Biscuits - Make refrigerated dough biscuits ahead. Warm biscuits on the grill and slather them with a bit of nut spread, made by blending finely ground Georgia pecans and softened butter.
Mixed Greens - A salad of greens goes with everything. To jazz it up a bit, toss in toasted Georgia pecans and some thinly sliced fresh fennel.
