New spring menu highlights traditional Southern ingredients
One sure sign of spring's arrival in Atlanta is the blooming azaleas, cherry trees and dogwoods, warm weather, and most importantly, the start of the outdoor dining season. The Georgian Terrace Hotel blends al fresco dining, with Beaux Arts architecture - on its terrace with a new spring menu to create the perfect setting to dine, people-watch and take in the sounds of an Atlanta spring. Overlooking Peachtree Street and the Fox Theatre, the historic hotel's terrace is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner and features delicious culinary creations from Executive Chef Jeff Vosburgh. Through spring and summer, the hotel will also feature Terrace Nights, after-work celebrations on the terrace every Wednesday through Friday from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. offering nightly drink and appetizer specials.
Chef Vosburgh's new spring menu highlights many traditional southern ingredients such as Vidalia onions, peaches, pecans and Georgia prawns, to put the perfect southern twist on Chef's American Continental cuisine. New lunch dishes include Seared Tuna Steak with Mixed Greens, Fingerling Potatoes, Thin Beans, Tomatoes and Vidalia Onion Vinaigrette; Savannah Low Country Boil with Shrimp, Oysters, Sausage, Potatoes, Corn and Okra; Hickory Smoked Pulled Pork over Buttermilk Biscuits, Creamed Sweet Corn and Red Eye Gravy; and Fresh Peach Tart with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. Lunch items range from $4.00 to $12.00.
At dinner, guests can savor delectable appetizers of Roasted Vine Ripe Tomato Soup with Georgia Prawn Fritter and Corn Bread Croutons; Red Leaf Romaine with Caesar Dressing, Spiced Pecans and Pecorino Cheese; and Chilled Salad of Asparagus with Goat Cheese, Toasted Walnuts, Watermelon, Micro Cress and Fig Vinegar.
The main course includes items such as Cornmeal Pan-Fried Brook Trout with Horseradish Cheddar Grits, Okra and a Mango Fennel Slaw; Carolina Chicken over Goat Cheese Whipped Potatoes, Thin Beans and a Citrus Cumin Jus; and Vanilla Poached Lobster and Petite Angus Filet of Beef with Baked Blue Cheese Macaroni and Braised Young Squash. Entrees are moderately priced from $16.00 to $28.00.
Finally, guests can satisfy their sweet tooth with desserts including Blackberry and Lavender Cobbler with Port Wine Syrup and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream; Peach Crème Brulee; and Warm Chocolate and Pecan Tart with Bourbon Caramel Sauce.
Cast-iron patio tables with market oversized umbrellas line Peachtree Street, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy outdoor dining on Atlanta's most famous street. Guests will dine on tables dressed with white tablecloths, which offers a civilized twist to traditional outdoor dining.
With names like Classic Cocktail Wednesday, Tequila Thursday and Hot Summer Nights/Cool Summer Drinks Friday, Terrace Nights holds inventive treats for the after-work Midtown crowd. Appetizer selections include Fresh Water Prawn BBQ'D on the Grill, served with Creamy Grits; Grilled Chicken Strips with Peanut Sauce and Pickled Peaches; and Grilled Tender Pork Loin with Sweet and Sour Peach Glaze and Black Eyed Pea Salad. With its cosmopolitan setting, the hotel's terrace has become one of the city's favorite outdoor dining spots. Here, guests can dine amidst bustling midtown activity, while enjoying southern hospitality, and seasonal blooms - a perfect atmosphere for outdoor dining in the city.
The Savoy Bar & Grill and the terrace are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The restaurant is open for breakfast Monday - Friday from 6:30 - 10:30 a.m. and weekends from 7:30 - 10:30 a.m.; lunch, Monday- Saturday from 11:30 - 2:00 p.m.; and dinner, Monday - Thursday from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 6:00 - 11:00 p.m.
