Cuisine at its best, showmanship at its finest
Dining at Teppan-yaki Dan is more than a meal. It is an experience of tantalizing flavors prepared right before your eyes by your very own personal chef.
Director of Food and Beverage, Bryan Ashlock states, “the perfect dining experience should be one that culminates not only the flavors of the food, but the showmanship of the chef, and the creativity of the plated presentations.” Backed by over 25 years of experience in European and Asian cuisine, Chef Ashlock displays a very unique fusion of East and West at Teppan-yaki Dan.
As Sheraton Maui’s signature restaurant, Teppan-yaki Dan reflects a beautiful blending of East and West in its ambience and cuisine. Japanese-style wood ceiling and flooring and contemporary Asian artwork set the mood, while the menu enhances this look with an eclectic array of fresh seafood, tender steaks and local produce. Begin your dinner with one of Sheraton Maui’s tantalizing appetizers.
Choose from a floral arrangement of Upcountry greens served with roasted sesame seeds and soy sauce dressing; Blackened Ahi, the finest Pacific Ahi (tuna) dusted with spices and herbs, served black and blues style; Maui’s Madame Pele Diablo Shrimp, literally a hot appetizer; a blend of Oriental pasta tossed with stir fried vegetables, a perfect East meets West combination; fresh oysters, seared with white wine and lemon juice, layered on a bed of fresh spinach leaves, topped with chili pepper wasabi tobiko; or Maui’s finest ahi, served with wasabi and soy sauce.
Cooked at your table, teppanyaki-style, master chefs prepare the finest catch from sea and land. Treat your palate to sauteed prawns with sweet island pineapple chunks; seared jumbo scallops with macadamia nut crust, served with watercress pesto; chunks of lobster with essence of lemon grass; prime cut of striploin, aged to perfection and served teriyaki style and peppercorn crusted; or seared filet mignon served with sake dipping sauce.
Teppan-yaki Dan also delights you with combination menu items such as filet mignon and teriyaki chicken; filet mignon with shrimp; filet mignon with scallops; and filet mignon with lobster. Or enjoy a Neptune of an entree with a combination of shrimp, scallops and the fresh island catch of the day. Add Teppan-yaki Dan’s unique ginger fried rice, miso clam soup, fresh Maui vegetables and tsukemono (pickled vegetables) to complete a satisfying dinner.
But Teppan-yaki Dan’s offerings are far from complete. Succulent desserts will tempt even the most satisfied guest. With choices such as lemon grass sorbet; Anuenue ice cream cake with coulis of tropical fruit; and orange hazelnut cheese cake profiteroles, you will find yourself with perhaps one of the most difficult choices of the evening.
Sheraton Maui sits on the legendary Pu'u Keka'a at Ka'anapali Beach on the island of Maui. Sprawled over 23 acres of tropical landscaping, 83 percent of the hotel’s 510 rooms and suites face the ocean.
