Sticking up for British pork
A new Meat and Livestock Commission advertising and promotion campaign has come up with a novel way of persuading housewives to stick to British pork!
Sticky notes are being put inside women’s magazines bearing a quick recipe and the British Meat Quality Standard Mark for pork.
The £750,000 promotion, which runs until the beginning of next month, is part of the British Pig Executive ‘Road to Recovery’ strategy and also includes posters close to major supermarkets.
As part of the campaign, a new recipe book called ‘getting saucy with pork’ has been produced by the MLC and celebrity chef Phil Vickery.
Independent butchers have not been left out as a special point of sale kit is being sent out to them.
MLC Marketing Manager for Pig Meat Chris Lukehurst said: “The aim of the campaign is to inspire cooks to include these quick and easy pork recipes in their everyday family meals.
“Pork is one of the nation’s favourites and we aim to make sure it retains its rightful place.”
