Renowned, premium meat company now using SureBeam technology

The Titan Corporation, innovator of the nation's first electronic pasteurization system for food -- announced today that Omaha Steaks International, Inc., nationally renowned for its premium steaks, red meats and other gourmet foods, has signed an exclusive multiyear agreement with SureBeam to use its patented electronic pasteurization technology on its ground beef product line.

Under the terms of the agreement, SureBeam Corporation will be the sole provider of electronic pasteurization services. Omaha Steaks joins the lengthy list of prominent food producers -- including IBP, Cargill, Emmpak Foods, Huisken Meats, Tyson Foods, Del Monte Foods, American Foodservice, United Food Group and Hawaii Pride -- who have committed to safeguarding the quality of their products through the use of SureBeam technology.

Omaha Steaks, one of the best-known brands of beef in America, are available through select foodservice distributors worldwide, as well as directly to consumers through mail order, the Internet, and 65 Omaha Steaks retail stores.

Similar to a microwave oven, the SureBeam system uses ordinary electricity as its energy source to pasteurize food after it has been processed and packaged. Titan's patented SureBeam technology instantly eliminates the threat of harmful food-borne pathogens such as E. coli O157:H7, Listeria, Campylobacter and Salmonella without affecting the food's texture, taste, or nutritional value.
