Here are some hints on how to cook crab

Crab is a very popular food when people dine out but it can also be prepared at home with ease. We can all learn how to cook crab fairly easily. Many see the process as more than just cooking it though. The acquiring of it can be a whole day of adventure for many people. It is common for people that live on the oceans around the world to go crabbing and they are experts on how to cook crab. They may even be able to create a mouth-watering feast on the beach after a fun day in the sun. Some people will even say that any complex recipes can, never match the taste of fresh crab cooked over a fire at the shore.

When considering how to cook crab the first most important thing to note is that you should always cook live crab. Crab deteriorates very quickly after it is killed. The simplest way to cook it is to simply throw it into a pot of boiling water. Some people like to add salt or other seasonings to the water first. Depending on the size of the crab it will take 6-8 minutes for them to cook.

How to cook crab can also involve cleaning them. Some people clean the crabs before they cook them. This is done by tossing them into boiling water for 30 seconds or by cutting just behind the eyes to remove the head to kill them first. Next, scrape out the gills that are found under flaps just over the legs. Then, turn the crab over. On the underbelly you will find the "tail" or "apron," a slightly lifted triangular flap. Pull this off. Finally, rinse the crab and pop it back into the pot.
